Out in the street one late cold night
I was freezing my pants by a traffic light
When a funky wino popped up across my view
And came to ask if I could spare a dollar or two
I gave him twenty bucks for he was a funky bloke
He double-crossed his eyes and took a deep smoke
As he grabbed the money, his face turned blue
And asked ‘Hey lad, you got something to do?`
We walked eight blocks and stopped by a pink door
He knocked five times and rung the bell once
The door opened, music hit the ghetto blaster
Inside a bunch of wild trumps fighting with mustard
Groovy downtown in the homeless underground,
Buzzin’ drinkin’ blowin’ sniffin’ bouncing up and down
Crawling up the ceiling and diving on the loose
Whipping out the god of bums with a thick noose
Boogie-woogie used to be a mad professor
Teaching high statistics at the University of Exeter
A habit into gambling got him out in the street
Now he preaches hookey-pookey to his fellow beats
Hinkumbooby round about, in and out
Hinkumbooby shake it all inside out
Hilibalu ball-night, round and round
And wag it, and wag it and wag it and wag it
Boogie-woogie holly low son of a bum
God forbid a homeless carry a gun
Hookey-pookey downtown underground
God forbid police pigs hunting around
Five deep tokes got me body bounce
On the gritty dirty bass that got me into deep trance.
The bell rung four times, and everybody froze
Through the main door walked in the Queen of the bums.
Evelyn Jones in a scarlet dress,
In fishnet tights that got us all obsessed.
Sexy hills sliding on the dancing floor
Oh, that French cut! Impossible to ignore
She used to do night shifts down the Golden Cage
While she master-planned details of her way to escape
They busted her with six grand and a kilo dope
After two years jail, she hit down the skid row
Now she is the muse of these funky bum blokes
And with her, they are all secretly in love.
When she rolls her hips, she induces fever heat.
In their sweetest dreams, they are kissing her feet.
Boogie-woogie holly low son of a bum
God forbid a homeless carry a gun
Hookey-pookey downtown underground
God forbid police pigs hunting around!
Party crashed with police at the door
And three white cops rushed in through the smoky hall
They came out softer on the other side
And picked me up first, as I was stoned and high
Levi, the Polish punk saw the hustle
And jumped in right away to cause a bit of disaster
His 99 kilos or raw pure meat
Exceeded the weight of the first two pigs
I got myself released and took a long-long sip
Rushed to Misses Jones and grabbed her by her feet
I took off her shoes by the metal high hills
To defend her against any violent pigs
She found my gesture brave and quite romantic
And whispered to my ear that it was ‘psychopathic’
I blushed my cheeks but she paid no attention.
That got me in a state of sexual tension.
Boogie-woogie run hard into the last cop
And bullied him down using fast belly flop
He got him disarmed and tight him with a rope
As Evelyn Jones stripped down for the joke
Hinkumbooby round about, in and out
Hinkumbooby shake it all, inside out
Hilibalu ball-night round and round
And wag it, and wag it and wag it and wag it
